From apartments to villas, Ponto Urbano buildings are designed to make people happy and become good investments. That’s why precision and quality are taken to every detail in each project. The name of the building is no exception and sometimes the buyer becomes part of a story.
Alavóo Residences
In the center of Aveiro, Alavóo is a tribute to the city’s roots. Located in the historic Alboi neighborhood, the project’s name reflects the history of this place and the city at the same time.
The word “Alavóo” supports one of the theories about the origin of the neighborhood’s current name. “Alavóo” would be the archaic way of saying ‘Grandfather’, which underwent several mutations thanks to the typical Aveiro exchange of ‘Vs’ for ‘Bs’. From “Alavóo” it became “Alabóo”, shortened to “Albó”, which became “Albói”.
The Tiles
Reflecting Aveiro’s culture, The Tiles building is an example of the Aveiro region’s connection to ceramics. In a special tribute to the tile, this project is an ode to the charms of Aveiro’s tile art. From this comes the name of the building, which combines tradition with modern interiors that reveal truly intimate spaces.
Ethula
Part of the Foz de Prata allotment, Ethula is connected with the flora and fauna of the Aveiro estuary.
Built in a sustainable ecosystem, the building is inspired by the Egretta Thula, the little egret that lives in the Aveiro estuary. With its white feathers and slender silhouette, it settles in coastal areas and shallow waters and brings the city’s fauna to life. These characteristics are reflected in the architecture of the building.
Páteo 1896
In São João da Madeira, Ponto Urbano’s first building in the city is more than just a place to live. As a tribute to the city and one of its most important personalities, living in Páteo 1896 means getting involved with S. João da Madeira’s past. From this period comes the memory of João da Silva Correia, writer, journalist, industrial worker, merchant and one of the city’s “patrons”. Born on May 8, 1896, he lends his date of birth to the name of the building. In addition to this, there is the reference to the courtyards, the usual places for socializing, which in this project reflect the “private condominium” style that Páteo 1896 offers to its residents.
In addition to new constructions, there is also history in each rehabilitation. As an example, Ponto Urbano was responsible for rehabilitating two emblematic buildings in Aveiro, Confeitaria Peixinho and Café Ramona.
Confeitaria Peixinho
Almost 170 years old, Confeitaria Peixinho is the oldest Ovos Moles shop in Aveiro.
Historic inside and out, Ponto Urbano’s mission was to rehabilitate the façade and interior of the building, one of the most iconic in the city, in just five weeks.
Established in 1856, Confeitaria Peixinho is part of the city’s history and is considered the epicenter of the tradition and originality of Aveiro’s regional sweets.
Ramona
In operation since 1973, Ramona is another of the city’s mythical places. Ponto Urbano restored the entire building and preserved the memory of Aveiro’s most famous burger joint. Today, Ramona has become a more modern and larger space.
At Ponto Urbano, the historical origins and culture of the region in which each project is located are two of the most important elements in its creation and development. This sign of respect for the region and its people is also a desire to make architecture a legacy for future generations.
